Tahoe Village Pauses Snow Storage Pile
Winter 2026, Tahoe Village HOA temporarily paused the practice of storing large piles of parking lot and roadway snow above the 331 Quaking Aspen building. However, the HOA attorney specifically stated that this was “not a representation that the area will no longer be used for snow storage” in the future.
The photos below show the area following the major February 2026 storm sequence with only natural snowfall present and no additional snow pushed or piled into the area from Tahoe Village roadways or parking lots. The area shown also reflects conditions without the season-long accumulation created by repeated HOA snow storage operations throughout the winter.
Despite one of the largest storm events in decades, the area above and around the building appears dramatically different without the added accumulation from HOA snow storage practices.
A historic mid-February 2026 storm sequence dropped extraordinary snowfall across the Lake Tahoe region between February 16–20, 2026. The Central Sierra Snow Lab recorded approximately 111 inches of snow over a five-day period — the third-highest five-day snowfall total recorded since 1970. Some areas around Lake Tahoe received nearly 8 feet of snow during the event.
